Here we go again! Rhino employees (and friends) make their third group trip to the Gulf Coast to work with Hands On and repair the damage of Hurricane Katrina. A group of nine (4 veterans and 5 new volunteers) dedicated individuals will work in New Orleans May 13 - 19th. Please check back often as we update this blog daily with our adventures.

ok, i have no idea how to blog, i guess thats a good thing though... i'm not a TOTAL nerd :)
it's thursday, just after dinner here in new orleans... so far i have worked at an animal shelter, picked up trash in central city, and built a playground in jefferson parish. some of the most rewarding (and exhausting) experiences i have had in my 2 trips to New Orleans. i dread leaving here on saturday, and expect that i'll be an emotional wreck the next few days.... i apologize in advance.
being here and working with the Hands On New Orleans organization and my fellow Rhinos, i am in such good spirits. i feel like i can do anything! and these people are going to change the world for the better... i'll return to LA with a renewed sense of hope as well as a great sense of sadness. why is there so little progress between nov.06 and may.07? it makes me ill... i try to stay away from the politics of it all (as it only makes me extremely angry toward the current situation in NOLA) but i try focusing on the good that i can do, that my amazing RHINO team can do, that all Hands On volunteers can do.
ive said it before, but it happened again.... NOLA changed my life. maybe it's the feeling of volunteering, maybe it's the mold, maybe it's the booze, but if nothing else it's the people, the atmosphere, the city, it's history, and it's knowing that this city will always be a part of me and i will always be a part of it.
see you soon NOLA xoxox.
